Due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, many SustainSahel partners from across Africa and Europe have been prevented from meeting as a group ‘in person’ until now. Many partners will be travelling to meet for the first time in Saly, Senegal (7-9th September), whilst others will be joining online to create the project’s first ‘hybrid’ event hosted by ISRA and CNCR, organisations based in Dakar, Senegal.
Despite difficult circumstances since the start of SustainSahel in September 2020, preparatory work establishing the seven field sites across Senegal, Burkina Faso and Mali has continued at pace, ensuring that there is substantial progress to report and knowledge to share.
Through workshops, networking, team-building exercises and formal presentations at the meeting, project partners will further develop their inter-connected knowledge on crop, shrub and livestock integration, ensuring that SustainSahel continues towards its goal of improving food security and agricultural livelihoods across the Sahel region.
