Serigne Mansour Diene is a Senegalese national born in Dakar and has a baccalaureate S2 in experimental sciences. He completed his studies at the University Iba Der THIAM of Thiès. He started with a University Diploma of Technology in Geometry and Topography and then did the engineering cycle to obtain the diploma of Engineer Geometrician of Design. For his thesis, he worked on thermal infrared photogrammetry in precision agriculture using a drone with a multi-spectral camera. This study was related to water stress in a population of Sorghum where we showed that the drone can detect a variety of stress response in a plant population. This work was awarded the Best Poster Award at the International Conference on Sustainable Intensification in November 2021 (CID2021).
In the framework of his PhD thesis, which is part of the WP7 & WP4 activities, Serigne is working on the study of the Spatio-temporal variability of millet and peanut yield in an agroforestry system using drone imagery and geostatistical approaches. They are trying to see what is the impact of Faidherbia on millet and groundnut in relation to productivity. He is supervised by Dr Olivier Roupsard, Dr Alain Audebert, Dr Louise Leroux, Dr Modou Mbaye and Dr Abdou Aziz Diouf.
